You'll be speachless in front of Michelangelo's David and the stunning Duomo Square! David and the Duomo are the two symbols of Florence so no trip is complete without seeing them both. We will have express entrance at the Accademia and you'll be soon in front of David and the 'Prisoners', a group of captivating statues that Michelangelo started, but never completed. After a brief walk we'll be in the Duomo Square where you'll see the Duomo (external visit) - the largest church of Florence- its Belltower and the Baptistery. Our tour includes the visit of the Museo dell'Opera (Duomo Museum) where you'll see Michelangelo's Pietà and the famous 'Gate of Heaven', followed by the internal visit of the Baptistery. Lastly, you'll have the chance to relax with a coffee or a drink in one of the most panoramic terraces in the square, filling your eyes with eternal beauty! This tour will give you a deep understanding of the two must see places of Florence!
In front of the museum you will meet your guide who will show you the most famous masterpieced by Michelangelo: David You will learn about Michelangelo's life and personality, his manias and his sculpting technique. You will see Michelangelo's Prigioni (Prisoners), a group of statues that he never finished.
An overview of Duomo Square with its Duomo, Baptistery and Belltower
See one of Michelangelo's Pietà that he started when he was in his 80s and then the original Ghiberti's doors (the Gate of Paradise which was once the estern door of the Baptistery), Donatello's stunning statue of Mary Magdalen. You will discover more about the construction of the dome by Brunelleschi and see some models of the dome.
