I am an award-winning writer and photographer who has worked in CDMX for 15 years and lived here full-time for the last 5. I live and have a studio in the Centro Histórico and know its streets, locations, and people well. I have been documenting the underground cabaret and burlesque scene in the city for the last several years, shooting the majority of my work in the same neighborhood we’ll be traversing.
Aside from writing and photography, I am an avid food and drink lover, and included along our walk will be me talking a lot about what makes this city great, tips on how to have a successful visit, where to eat and not to eat, and which shows and performances not to miss. If you are interested in the history of the city, its historic cantinas, pulquerias, and salons, you’ll have access to all the information you won’t find on Tik Tok or travel blogs.
We’ll do a walking street photo workshop and tour of Mexico City’s Centro Histórico, building and honing the skills needed to capture memorable images in a dynamic setting. Whether you’re interested in street portraits, architecture, street scenes, or selfies, I’ll show you how to use the light and the moment to make a beautiful image. I shoot film, but you can bring a digital camera or even a phone to learn and hone the necessary skills to make every street jaunt a photographic moment. If you do shoot film, I can help you with processing if you need it. Wear comfy shoes, we’ll walk up to two miles down the less beaten paths of the historic city center. Many of the best parts of the Centro Histórico are rarely seen by tourists, despite being some of the most colorful and vibrant. Learn how to make street photography meaningful in an otherworldly urban setting. No one leaves the Centro Histórico without falling in love with its charm, antiquity, and chaos.
