Accompanied by a degree in History and an official tourist guide, in this visit we will learn about the changes that our city underwent with the arrival of the railroad, the growth of the bourgeoisie and the leap to modernity that León made in the change from the 19th to the 21st century. We will discover what Gaudí's work in León meant and the radical change that a city underwent that, until the arrival of the railroad, seemed anchored in the past. A modern city, inspired by the Eixample of Barcelona, which today works to overcome the challenges imposed by the rapid changes that the 21st century brings us.
The visit begins in the Plaza de San Marcelo, in front of the Casa Botines, the work of Antonio Gaudí, whose interior we will visit.
From Botines we will go to the Plaza de Santo Domingo where we will discover the starting point of the development of León in the last years of the 19th century.
On a tour of the Gran Vía de San Marcos, we will discover the differences between the original project and the final execution and we will recover the memory of such notable places as the Plaza de la Inmaculada, which has so many memories for the people of León.
