Piazza dei Cavalieri (Knights’ Square) in Pisa is a refined Renaissance gem and the city’s historic political heart. Entry to the square is free, inviting guests to stroll among splendid façades by Vasari, including the Palazzo della Carovana—home to the elite Scuola Normale Superiore—and the striking Palazzo dell’Orologio. At the centre stands Pietro Francavilla’s commanding statue of Cosimo I de’ Medici, symbolising naval might, with an elegant shell-shaped fountain beneath. Nearby, the Church of Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri displays captured Ottoman banners and richly decorated interiors. Most buildings are not open to the public, but the open-air setting offers history, architecture, and tranquility. Ideal for a short stop: pause to admire the square.
Piazza dei Miracoli, or the Square of Miracles, is the most iconic site in Pisa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entry to the square itself is free, allowing visitors to walk among its stunning monuments: the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the Baptistery, and the Monumental Cemetery. Please note that tickets (not included) are required to climb the Leaning Tower or to enter the Cathedral and Baptistery. Take your time to admire the architecture, snap the famous photo "holding up" the tower with your hands, and enjoy a coffee at one of the nearby cafés with a direct view of this world-famous landmark. A perfect stop to relax, take photos, and soak in centuries of history.
Piazzale Michelangelo offers the most breathtaking panoramic view of Florence. Located on a hill just outside the city center, it’s the perfect spot to admire the skyline—from the red dome of the Duomo to the towers of Palazzo Vecchio and the flowing Arno River. A replica of Michelangelo’s David stands proudly in the center of the square. Whether you arrive by car or take a scenic walk up, this viewpoint is a must-see. Take a break, sip an espresso or a cappuccino at the local café, and soak in the beauty of Florence from above—it’s an unforgettable moment.
