What's included in Private Pewter Sake Cup Making Workshop in Kyoto

(Subject to Option Inclusions)

This is a hands-on experience where you create a pewter sake cup together with the owner, who is also a skilled Pewtersmith. First, you'll decorate the cup by hammering patterns onto a prepared piece of pewter using your choice of hammer. If you wish, you can also stamp a name, date, or short message on the bottom of the cup using alphabet letters or numbers. After adding the pattern, you'll adjust the cup's height with a file, then bevel the rim to ensure a smooth and pleasant drinking experience. For safety reasons, the final polishing process—done with a rotating machine—will be handled by the pewter artisan. If you're interested, we’ll also be happy to give you a brief tour of the workshop at that time. The cup you’ll create is approximately 64 mm in diameter and 53 mm in height, with a capacity of 90 ml (up to 115 ml when filled to the brim). It’s perfect for serving sake, whiskey, or chilled green tea.
