Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban
Surely one of the most beautiful pre-Hispanic site in Mexico, the superb ruins of Monte Alban overlook the Oaxaca Valley, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The temples are impressive, with a little air of Machu Picchu. Former capital of the Zapotecos, then occupied by the Mixtècos until shortly before the arrival of the Spanish. Monte Albán was officially named UNESCO World Heritage in 1987
