The tour begins at the entrance to the port and takes us south, past Punta Cuevas, a historic site with the ruins of the first Welsh landing of 1865, considered the origin of Puerto Madryn. Here, we visit the interpretive centre on Welsh and native history. Continue to the viewpoint of the Tehuelche monument, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and its beaches. Then, we head to Paraná Beach, famous for the remains of the boat Le Folies, ideal for diving. We arrived at Punta Loma Natural Protected Area, a sea lion refuge, where we observed its activity, especially in the breeding season. Birds such as rock cormorants and guanacos, foxes and choiques can also be seen on the steppe. We finish the tour by touring the industrial and fishing park of the city before returning to the port. A complete tour of history, nature and wildlife.

Itinerary

Reserva Loberia de Punta Loma

This Protected Area is the only permanent refuge for sea lions, unlike the sea lion colonies of the Valdes peninsula, which are farmed or wintered. We can also observe medium-rise cliffs falling into the sea and extensive pebble beaches. From a ravine, there is a viewpoint from which we can observe the activity that dominates the colony according to the time of year (formation of harems, coupling and births). Breeding season begins in November, at which time males struggle to form their harem and mate. In the month of December and until the end of January the little ones are born. In this refuge also inhabits a colony of birds, rock cormorants that nest in clay walls, as well as South American gulls, among other seabirds and land birds
