Arrábida Bridge is an arched bridge over the Douro River that connects Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia. At the time of its construction in 1963, the bridge had the largest reinforced concrete arch of any bridge in the world.
The place owes its name to a time when there existed for many fountains that brought the people fetch water with their pitchers. Always an area of riverside fishermen, still maintains the tradition of harbor for shelter small boats and storage of fishing gear, which harmonize with the beautiful riverside landscape, where you can see the Afurada and Cabedelo, on the other side, between with the long run from the Douro to the mouth.
