Kotoku-in (Great Buddha of Kamakura)
The Great Buddha of Kamakura is a bronze seated statue of Amida Tathagata located in the Kotoku-in Temple of the Pure Land Buddhism in the ancient capital of Kamakura. It is commonly known as the Great Buddha of Kamakura. It is the symbol of the ancient capital of Kamakura. The Buddha statue was built in1252In 2000, the Buddha's flatter face, lower bun and forward leaning posture were in the style of the Song Dynasty Buddha statues popular in the Kamakura period. Unlike the Great Buddha of Nara Todaiji Temple, which has undergone many repairs in later generations, the Great Buddha of Kamakura has basically maintained its original form, so it is very precious.
Gokurakudo Enoden Tunnel
Enoden is a streetcar that connects Fujisawa to Kamakura. The route covers most of Kamakura's famous attractions, and you can also enjoy the beautiful Shonan coast scenery. As long as we talk about Kamakura, the indispensable representative means of transportation is Enoden. The scene of a train speeding past often appears in major Japanese film and animation works.
