Itinerary

This cafe is the first stop and meeting point

Avenida Jimenez

After the market, you will walk towards Avenida Jimenez and 7th Avenue, where you will start to get a clear idea of the initiation of the political conflict and learned what happened during the riots of Bogotazo in 1948. You will visit Santander Plaza, the San Francisco church, Jorge Eliecer Gaitan´s memorial and view the eclectic architecture of the city center. Walking along 7th Avenue towards Plaza Bolivar as you get a better understanding about Colombia´s troublesome history.

Museo Nacional de Colombia Fragmentos

Next, you will head to visit the "counter-monument" Fragmentos built by the artist Doris Salcedo and a group of women who were victims of Colombia's armed conflict.(Gallery closed on Mondays) This artwork was built using the melted rifles of FARC ex-members as raw material and will stay on display during the same amount of years that the armed conflict lasted.
